Dr. Gerald Belpaire
President
Having decided upon an object-oriented and a client/server design approach
while developing the strategy for the development of DSTS, Dr. Belpaire
is considered among industry peers to be a visionary in the utilization
of object-oriented technology for trading software applications.
Prior
to founding Decision Software, he was a Vice President of Information
Systems within the Citicorp, North America Investment Bank. As a key
executive responsible for development of multiple trading applications,
he managed the design, engineering and successful implementations of
systems to support trading in fixed income and foreign exchange.
Dr. Belpaire
earned his doctorate in Computer Science at Universite Catholique de
Louvain in Belgium and has been an Assistant Professor of Computer
Science at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences (New York
University) and at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
Samuel Aizenberg
Executive Vice President
As a co-founder of Decision Software and a specialist in the design,
development and implementation of advanced trading and trading support
applications, Mr. Aizenberg plays a crucial role in the engineering of
DSTS. He determines market trends and requirements through continual
interaction with customers and prospects and he maintains responsibility
for the specification of functional improvements to DSTS. In addition
to his efforts in the area of product development, Sam manages Decision
Software's Professional Services and Quality Assurance teams.
Mr. Aizenberg
brings to Decision Software almost twenty years of diversified experience
in the design and development of applications for the securities
industry. Specifically, he had held the position of Vice President
within the Citicorp North American Investment Bank where he specialized
in fixed
income, repos and foreign exchange and at Prudential Bache Securities
where he focused on equity systems. Aizenberg earned his Masters in
Electrical Engineering at Lvov Polytechnic Institute in the Ukraine Republic.
Thomas P. Burrus III
Vice President Marketing and Sales
Tom joined Decision Software in May of 1997 as vice president of marketing
and sales. He is responsible for all sales and marketing activities for
Decision Software. He is also a member of the firm’s management
committee. Tom brings to Decision Software the skills he acquired during
the 19 years spent with financial service / software providers and securities
trading institutions. Previously Head of North American Sales and Marketing
for global trade processing software provider OMR Systems.
Prior to entering
the financial software industry, Tom was an institutional trader at
Merrill Lynch Government Securities for 8 years and an institutional
fixed income salesman at Smith Barney Government Securities for 2 years.
Previously he worked for Bankers Trust Company in their US Corporate
Banking Department in New York.. Tom holds a B.S. degree in Finance
and International Business from New York University.
Jeffrey Fein
Vice President / Application Development
Jeff has been a software engineer at Decision Software since 1989. In
1995 he was promoted to head the application development staff at Decision
Software. In this role Jeff is responsible for managing all new development
projects as well as maintaining the current system. Jeff previously worked
at Unisys Corporation as an assistant software engineer. He has a degree
in Computer Science from Columbia University School of Engineering & Applied
Science.
James K. Smyth
Vice President Client Services
Jim joined Decision Software in July of 2003 as vice president for client
services and a member of the firm’s management committee. His responsibilities
include all customer relationships, pre-sale activities, product enhancements,
implementation support, work-flow management and training. Jim’s
prior experience includes a position as Executive Vice President of Marketing
for Kestrel Technologies Inc. as well as a twenty-five year career as
an institutional fixed income salesman specializing in US Government
securities at Salomon Brothers, Merrill Lynch, Drexel Burnham and Donaldson,
Lufkin and Jenrette.
Jim holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration
from Columbia University and a BS in Economics from Fordham University.
He served in the US Army
Special Forces in 1970-71 and in the US Army Special Forces Reserve
from 1971-1977.
